All Nazi open air meetings scheduled to begin tomorrow and conclude on Sunday will be prohibited if Nazi leaders persist in their refusal to sign guarantees that peace will be maintained, the police department threatened today.
The demand for guarantees from the Nazis followed representations from spokesman for the Jewish Community who fear that disturbances will result since the Nazi meetings coincide with Jewish New Year observances which begin on Friday evening and conclude on Sunday.
At the same time the police announced that they have arranged for special protection of the Jewish districts particularly in the vicinity of the synagogues.
The Jewish Self Defense organization has completed arrangements in its own behalf to protect the synagogues and worshippers from possible attack. lieved were intentionally fixed to coincide with the Jewish high holydays.
Outstanding Nazi leaders from Germany will be imported for the occasion, it is learned and will include such prominent Nazi chieftains as Herman Goering, Nazi president of the dissolved Reichstag and Gregor Strasser, regarded as second only to Adolph Hitler himself in influence.
The situation is further complicated by the fact that the Communists and the Social Democrats are arranging for meetings to counteract those of the Nazis.
