Nazis who had planned to celebrate German Day today with a parade through Union City called off their demonstration when it was made clear by police that such activity would not be tolerated.
For weeks local Nazis have been roiled because authorities have prevented them from demonstrating in public. In some circles it was expected that the police would be defied today, since a number of the Hitlerites had expressed intention of holding the parade, sanction or no sanction.
Aside from a few unofficial Nazi gatherings all was quiet on the western front of the Hudson.
