Secret State police agents notified Jewish leaders at a convention of Polish Jews here today that stateless Jews would not be permitted to join their association.

The police made the declaration after hearing Isaac Kornfeld, president of the Berlin Association of Polish Jews, emphasize in an address that the principal task of the association was to assist the hundreds of Jews, formerly Polish citizens, who have been stripped of their German citizenship under the Nuremberg laws.

Fifty delegates and hundreds of guests representing 50,000 Polish Jews in thirty-five communities assembled for the convention, called to consider action on discrimination which they charge the Nazis are practicing against them.

The Polish consul, Mr. Gruskevitsz, greeted the parley, expressing gratification at the formation of a “solid unit of Polish citizens.” Other speakers were Rabbi Leo Baeck, president of the Reich Representation of Jews in Germany, officers of other central Jewish organizations, Dr. Jacob Meitlis on emigration problems, and Dr. Michael Traub on the plight of the Jews in Poland.

The conference, scheduled to end tomorrow, is expected to ask the Polish Government to take more active interest in the legal status of Polish Jewish nationals in Germany and to demand representation in German central Jewish organizations.
