Long lines of “Aryan” bargain-hunters virtually besieging Jewish-owned stores to take advantages of post-holiday inventory sales have roused the ire of the provincial Nazi press.
While the tendency to seek bargains in Jewish-owned shops was noticeable in the capital as well as throughout the country, the Berlin newspapers failed to comment. Provincial papers, however, led by the Munich edition of Hitler’s Voelkischer Beobachter, launched an attack on the “unfaithful Aryan women.”
The Beobachter declared; “These women who are standing in front of Jewish stores are violating national morality and self-respect. They are selling the national honor for a few pfennigs.”
