Nazi propaganda leaflets in large numbers are being distributed here in large amounts by the crews of German cargo boats loading oranges for shipment to Europe.
A pamphlet called “Germany’s Fight for Western Civilization” has been circulated here. It accuses the Jews of being Communists and violently attacks them.
Propagandist activities of this sort are forbidden by a government ordinance. The attention of the local authorities has been called to the leaflets and to the activity of the Nazis.
On February 6, New York customs officials seized 300 pounds of Nazi anti-Semitic, anti-Catholic literature on the North German Lloyd freighter Este. The chief cook of the ship, in whose cabin the Nazi propaganda was found, was arrested by the authorities.
The propaganda material seized was in German and English and included the 32-page pamphlet “Germany’s Fight for Western Civilization.”
