Lynch law against Jews is becoming increasingly ##evalent in Germany, according to a ##atement made to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency yesterday by one of the most prominent Jewish industrialists who has escaped from Germany. He pictures in the gloomiest light the fate of the entire Jewish population. Describing the situation of Jews in the provinces, he says that many of them dare not remain at home at night, but hide in the woods, fields, cattle sheds and similar places, in order to avoid special Nazi troops who systematically break into Jewish houses and carry away Jews for maltreatment. He adds, however, that neither women nor children are attacked, nor are any assaults committed during the day. Night time, he declares, is a period of terror for many Jews. In numerous cases, Jews have been murdered outright, others have been ###ured by being forced to run the gauntlet between roads of Nazis who whipped them with iron sticks until unconscious.

Describing Berlin, the fugitive said that many Jews have for weeks not been at home, but have hid in the houses of non-Jewish friends, or have gone to the provinces, where their identity is unknown.

Not only Jewish politicians are among the sufferers, he declares, but most of the victims had actually never concerned themselves with politics, many of them being small traders bent only on their business.

With regard to the boycott, the J. T. A.’s informant said that the drive against Jewish businesses had become even fiercer. A special Economic Nazi Committee has been established in order to force banks to foreclose on their Jewish clients. Numbers of Jewish merchants have already been ruined by such action taken by the banks. He concludes that there is no sign whatever of any improvement, nor is there any truth in the reports that some of the culprits have been brought to justice.
