Oskar Brandt, wartime chief of the Jewish department of the Gestapo in Cracow who established the ghetto in Cracow and later participated in the destruction of the Warsaw Ghetto, died of a heart attack in his cell in Wroclaw, where he was awaiting trial as a war criminal, it was reported here today. His trial was due to begin within a few days.
The Polish press reported today the verdicts of various war criminal courts. The following were sentenced to death for participating in the execution of Jews: Fritz Neumann, formerly chief of the anti-Jewish extermination program in the province of Pozen; L. Klutsch, a concentration camp guard; and, a group of five Germans in Torun.
