Nazis Bar Jews from Amsterdam, All Other Cities in Holland Made”judenrein”

Nazi authorities in Amsterdam have issued an order barring the Jews from residence in the city , it was reported today by the Aneta, Netherland news agency.

“This order,”Aneta said, “completes fulfillment of the German threat to eradicate the Jews from the national life of Holland.”Amsterdam was the only city in occupied Holland where Jews were still permitted to live. The Netherland news agency quoted the Dusseldorf newspaper, Der Mittag, as reporting that the decree was issued on May 14, It did not indicate what would happen to the thousands of Jews in the Amsterdam ghetto.

“Previous ordinances by the German authorities had prohibited Jews from living in all other parts of the country, “Aneta stated. “Wholesale arrests had been reported in progress for some time. The Nazis had gradually increased their persecutions and arrests of Jews since the first year of their occupation of the Netherlands, but no formal bar to residence existed until recently. Then April 10 was set for the beginning of the evacuation of all Jews from eight of the country’s eleven provinces, the victims being sent to concentration camps for ultimate shipment to eastern Europe. The remaining three provinces were ordered evacuated of Jews beginning April 23, only those in the city of Amsterdam being exempted. The current expansion of the policy completes fulfillment of the German threat to eradicate Jews from the entire national life of Holland.”
