German authorities in occupied countries are continuing persecution of Jews despite Allied warnings that Nazi officials guilty of torturing the civilian population in German-held territories will be punished for their crimes after the war, the Daily Herald reports today.
The Manchester Guardian today published an article by Irma Lindheim, American Zionist, reviewing the Jewish contribution to the war effort in Palestine. The article points out that while Palestine starved during World War I, it produced, during the present war, fifty percent of the wheat it required and was self sufficient in vegetables and in dairy products. “When blueprinting of the post-war world will be undertaken, the way of life created by the Chalutzim in Palestine must be given serious consideration and study,” the article says.
