The Nazi Governor of Warsaw has issued an order reserving Jerusalem Avenue "for the exclusive residence of Germans only," it is reported in Swiss newspapers today.
The order coincides strangely with a struggle reported to be going on between the Nazis in Germany and the Church there over the omission of the words "Jerusalem" and "Zion" from a hymn book which the Nazi authorities insist must be used in all churches. The words "Hallelujah," "Jehovah," "psalm" and many other biblical allusions have been deleted from the new hymnal which was issued under the auspices of the Institute for Research into Jewish Influence on the Church in Germany. All "Judaistic" words and all references to the Bible have also been omitted.
