A Jewish newspaper for Poland will begin publication shortly in Cracow, the German radio reported today, “to show the Jews that German anti-Semitism does not intend to destroy the Jewish race completely.”
“It is true,” the Berlin broadcaster said, “that Germany wishes to exclude all Jews from the political and cultural life of Germany and has succeeded in doing so, but in their ghettos they are free to do what they want.”
According to the Krakauer Zeitung, Nazi organ in Poland, the new paper will be named Die Juedische Presse and will deal only with Jewish vocational, welfare, educational and emigration matters. It will be the only Jewish organ in Nazi-occupied Poland.
The Krakauer Zeitung also gives indication of the misery prevailing among the 50,000 persons in the Lublin Jewish “reservation.” Their only source of livelihood is, sale of water, but this activity is limited to a few, the remaining Jews being condemned to complete idleness.
