Placement of material with German Jewish firms manufacturing ready-made clothing in preference to similar “Aryan” groups was defended in Berlin by Dr. Hjalmar Schacht, Nazi Minister of Economics and head of the Reichsbank, the London News Chronicle reported today.
Dr. Schacht, according to the story, replied to a protest by the “Aryan” manufacturers by stating that the requirements of the export trade make it imperative that cloth for manufacture be placed first with factories making export goods and that Jews own most of these.
