The government today was effecting several measures designed to prevent distribution in Germany proper of meat prepared in Upper Silesia according to the special ritual of the Mosaic law.
“Schechita,” ritual preparation of meat, forbidden in Germany, was recently allowed in the Upper Silesia plebiscite area by Interior Minister Frick after several complaints had been forwarded to the League of Nations that Germany was infringing on the national minority rights of the Jews there.
The government, however, is taking measures to see that food prepared for the Silesian Jews should not leave that area for other parts of Germany.
