All the theatres owned by Max Reinhardt, noted German Jewish producer, are being liquidated in accordance with the recent order, issued by Minister of Propaganda Paul Joseph Goebbels, demanding the complete ousting of Jews from the German theatres, it was announced today.
Hermann Rosenberg, brother-in-law of Reinhardt, was dismissed today from an administrative post in the Deutsche Theatre, of which Dr. Reinhardt was producer-manager. At the same time, Dr. Julius Luptchinsky, personal representative of Dr. Reinhardt, was also dismissed from the Deutsches Theatre.
Dr. Reinhardt, who became famous when he produced and directed “The Miracle”, was ousted from the German stage when the Nazis assumed power. Since then he has directed plays in various European capitals, including the famous Salzburg festival in Austria. Some time ago, the Austrian government bestowed the Golden Order of Merit, the Highest Austrian honor, on Dr. Reinhardt for his services to the cause of theatrical art.
