The Nazi-controlled Brussels radio, in a Flemish-language broadcast to Belgium, announced today that Jews living in “numerous” municipalities in Holland have been ordered to move to Amsterdam “as soon as possible.” The broadcast was heard by monitors of the Federal Communications Commission.

Observers here pointed out that in the past such orders have been a prelude to mass-deportations of Jews, since the Nazis have been using Amsterdam as a concentration center from which the deportees are shipped to eastern Europe. It is thought that as a result of the recent large-scale deportations of Dutch Jews there are few remaining in Amsterdam, necessitating a round-up of those still residing in the smaller towns and villages throughout the country.
