A United Press dispatch from Berlin said today that the Nazi authorities were considering the advisability of blocking further Jewish emigration because they viewed as dangerous the possibility that Jews will enter enemy services or impart vital information. The dispatch added that emigration to Palestine has been banned for Jews of military age.
High death tolls, the U.P. said, were reported among Jews in concentration camps. Some ten per cent of a group of Polish Jews held in Sachsenhausen since the outbreak of war were said to have died. The death rate at Buchenwald, where 6,000 “Aryans,” Polish and Vienna Jews are held, was also reported to be high, with scarcity of food and inadequate clothing for winter assertedly the causative factors.
