Reports reaching here today from Holland state that the Nazi authorities there have seized 1,000 Jewish children as hostages in an attempt to check anti-Nazi sabotage sweeping the country.
The first deportations of Dutch “Aryans” from Holland as punishment for helping Jews are announced officially in the Nazi newspaper, Deutsche Zeitung of Amsterdam, which reached here today.
The list of deported “Aryans” includes two Dutchmen charged with hiding Jews slated for deportation, one charged with smuggling Jews across the Belgian frontier, a sailor from Rotterdam who is charged with procuring false identity cards for Jews, and a Rotterdam insurance agent charged with attempting to aid Jews conceal their assets.
