A new attempt to “sell” Hitlerism to members of Congress is seen in the distribution to members of the legislative body of copies of a new publication called American Illustrated News.
The magazine, elaborate in every detail, tells the story of Hitlerism in photographs and text in English with the evident intention of justifying the Hitler reign. An editorial in the issue is titled: “American–the New Germany Speaks to You.”
Old-time members of Congress, upon receipt of the publication, recalled the pre-war and wartime efforts of Germany to propagandize the United States.
According to the mast-head of the publication, it is represented in the United States by the Hamburg-American Line and the North German Lloyd. It is understood here that the companies deny any connection with the paper.
