The growing split between the Nazi party and the government on the so called liberal policy of Economics Minister Schmitt towards Jews in industry and commerce is assuming a serious character and has led to an open declaration of war by the Nazi party leaders on the government.
The Jewish Telegraphic Agency learned today that instructions were sent out early this week from the Munich Brown House, national headquarters of the Nazi party, by the anti-Jewish boycott department of the party, addressed to all Nazi district commissars to defy government orders to tolerate Jewish traders. The Nazi party orders urge the commissars to disregard government orders against distinguishing between Aryan and non-Aryan business, emphasizing that patronizing Jewish stores will be considered a breach of party discipline.
As a result of this split, a clash was reported today from Essen in the Ruhr district, center of the great steet industry, where three Jewish cattle dealers came to the local market. The local Nazi district leader thereupon ordered the Jews to heave immediately. The representative o the Ministry of Economics, also a Nazi, ordered the Jews to remain in the market, informing the Nazi district leader that molestation of the Jewish merchants would be considred a breach of the government orders.
