With $285,000 in pledges, this city’s joint drive for $600,000 in behalf of the United Jewish Campaign, the United Palestine Appeal and the local Conference of Jewish Charities, was formally opened at a dinner in the Y. The largest donors at the dinner were Louis Bamberger and Felix Fuld, promnent merchants and philan-thropists, each of whom pledged $30,000 or jointly 10 per cent of the entire amount sought.
The principal speakers at the dinner were Dr. Stephen S. Wise, chairman of the United Palestine Appeal, and Dr. Henry Moskowitz, prominent civic and social worker of New York.
