The need for expanding the network of schools maintained by the Alliance Israelite Universelle in North Africa was stressed today by Judge Leon Meiss, president of the Central Jewish Consistory, who has just returned here from Morocco where he participated in the dedication ceremonies of a new Alliance CRT vocational school.
Thousands of Jewish children, in North Africa, he declared, are unable to attend classes in the Alliance schools owing to the overcrowded conditions. He asserted that these youngsters are living in “appalling misery.”
