Because American Negroes, especially those who live in the South, are deeply indebted to the late Julius Rosenwald, “who gave millions of dollars to establish Young Men’s Christian Association buildings and rural public schools for members of the Negro race,” P.B. Young, editor of the Negro periodical, entitled “Journal and Guide,” has made a contribution to the United Jewish Appeal. In sending his gift to Sylvan Altschul, chairman of the United Jewish Fund of Norfolk, Va., Mr. Young said that through this contribution he “wanted to indicate our interest in the broad question of Jewish welfare in the present crisis, and to make some expression of our concern and sympathy.”
