The neo-Nazi Aktion Neue Rechte (Action for a New Right) has disbanded because it was not allowed to run for the university boards elections in June. However, the group has announced that it will continue to work underground on an informal basis. Last month, several members of the group clashed with police in Braunau, Hitler’s home town, when they gathered to celebrate the Nazi dictator’s 90th birthday. The incident provoked a demonstration of more than 2000 anti-Nazis in the center of Vienna who called for a ban of all neo-Nazi organizations.
