Herbert Kraus, leader of the neo-Nazi League of Independent Voters, declared at a press conference in which he discussed restitution that the Jews in Austria should receive “everything that rightfully belongs to them.”
Asked by newsmen to explain the discrepancy in campaign promises made to former Nazis–in which he pledged nullification of the restitution laws–Mr. Kraus asserted that he does not support such nullification. He labelled as anti-Semitic and pro-German certain publications issued by his own party. He also disclosed that five members of his party had been excluded from membership because of Nazi remarks attributed to them.
(At Bad Pyrmont, Germany, Franz Richter, leader of a German rightist party in the West German Parliament, today demanded “restitution for damage inflicted by denazification,” Reuters reported. Describing himself as a “rightist leader at Bonn” and his party as “rightist without compromises,” Richter was cheered at a private meeting when he called denazification “a dirty business.”)
