“Stevedore”, anti-lynching play by Paul Peters and George Sklar, will be staged in the middle of April at the Civic Repertory Theatre by the Theatre Union, according to an announcement. The cast, consisting of twenty-nine persons of whom twenty are Negroes, is rehearsing under the direction of Michael Bankfort, member of the Theatre Union’s executive board.
The announcement also said that “Peace on Earth”, the first production of the Theatre Union, will reopen in a Broadway theatre. During its run in the Repertory Theatre, it is estimated that 125,000 persons witnessed the play.
