New discoveries were made by the Antiquities Department of the Palestine Government in excavations being conducted in and around a large cave near Athlit.
Stone constructions containing numerous burial places were unearthed Flints of the palaeolithic and transitional periods were found. Sherds near the surface show that the site was occupied during the Roman or Byzantine period.
