Dr. Joshua Bloch, newly appointed chief of the Jewish Division of the New York Public Library, was the guest of honor at a dinner given by his friends at the Broadway Central Hotel, last Sunday. Among the prominent guest present were the Director of the New York Public Library, Mr. Anderson and the Chief Librarian, Dr. Leidenburg. The toastmaster of the dinner was Mr. I. George Dobsevage of the Jewish Publication Society. Speeches were made by Dr. DeSola Pool, Prof. Richard Gotheil, Reuben Brainin, and Rabbi Joel B lau. Mr. Anderson pointed out the debt the library owed to the late Jacob A, Schiff, and made an appeal for funds to carry on the work of the Jewish Division.
