Inauguration of a new telecommunications center in Israel was hailed in ceremonies yesterday by Israeli Postmaster General Zvi Prihar and other leading government officials, including Foreign Minister Moshe Sharett, Labor Minister Goldie Myerson and Police Inspector-General Behor Shitreet.
Mr. Prihar, addressing the group attending the dedication ceremonies of the new communications center, pointed out that during the Mandatory’s regime Palestine was dependent on foreign cable services operating via Egypt, while now Israel is directly connected with almost every part of the world. Greetings were exchanged via direct cable between Tel Aviv’s Mayor Israel Rokach and New York’s Mayor William O’Dwyer.
