Paul Knabenshue, formerly United States Consul General in Egypt and in Syria, will sail for Palestine the end of January to take charge of the office of Jerusalem Consugate General, to which he was appointed. He will assume his duties on March 1.
When interviewed by the representative of the Jewish Daily Bulletin, Mr. Knabenshue stated yesterday that he is of the opinion that Palestine is now on the road to speedy economic development. When in Jerusalem, he will make a thorough study of several economic projects which are now under consideration, particularly of the Dead Sea concession. Before his departure, Mr. Knabenshue stated, he will attempt to meet with a number of leading Zionists and non-Zionists in New York.
With his appointment, the Jerusalem Consulate was raised to the status of a Consulate General.
