The internal fight within the Histadruth, the Jewish Federation of Labor in Palestine, reached a new height today when the opposition groups refused to participate in elections to the central committee and other executive organs of the organization, at the conclusion of a two-day conference.
A central committee was nevertheless elected. Usually composed of thirty-three members, thirteen of the seats were left vacant for the opposition in case it changes its attitude and decides to join the committee. The groups who refused to participate in the elections are the Hashomer Hatzair, the movement for Labor Unity, the Socialist League and the left wing of the Poale Zion.
