In a pastoral letter written by Bishop James E. Cassidy of the Fall River Diocese, read in all the Catholic calls for a moral crusade to clean up what he calls the “filth and immorality” of the moving pictures.
The Bishop’s letter declares that the blame for the situation lies partly with the Jews who he says are the producers and writers in their employ. The writers are “pagans,” according to his reverence.
The letter concludes with an admonition to producers to “clean up or shut up.”
