A Freedom Forest in Israel to pay tribute and perpetuate the name of the New England states was launched at the annual conference of the New England Jewish National Fund yesterday with a goal pledged to plant 100,000 trees. New England governors have accepted sponsorship of this Freedom Forest and will serve on a National Committee of Governors.
Fred Monosson, of Boston, was reelected New England JNF president for this coming year. Guest speakers included former Governor Theodore R. McKeldin of Maryland; Mendel N. Fisher of New York, executive director of the Jewish National Fund of America Label A. Katz of New Orleans, president of B’nai B’rith; and Harry Levine, noted industrialist, just returned from Israel.
