A search made by the correspondent of the “Jewish Daily Bulletin” here disclosed no trace of the huge fortune reported to have been left here by the late Julius Weinberger, who was reported in the Prague and Vienna press to have left an estate of $30,000,000.
Oldtimers here remember a man by the name of Julius Weinberger. But he moved away many years ago and no information of an estate is available.
Reports from Prague and Vienna, as cabled to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, stated that the local press published a story to the effect that Gabriel Brich, 94, an inmate of the Jewish Old Age Home at Trentchin, Czechoslovakia, was informed that he is the sole heir to a thirty million dollar estate left by his half-brother, Julius Weinberger, of Galveston, Tex., who emigrated to the United States in 1880.
The aged Gabriel Brich is said to have rejected the fortune, declaring he was too old to enjoy it, but he asked that a search be made for his two sons, from whom he last heard in Vienna. A search for his sons was then undertaken. Several of the Vienna newspapers attempted to find the heirs.
An inquiry at the American Embassy at Vienna brought the reply that the Embassy has no information concerning the matter.
