A new federation of Jewish communities of Morocco was formed here today at the Congress of the Council of Jewish Communities of Morocco. Dr. Leon Benzaquen, a former member of the Government Cabinet, was chosen honorary president, David Amar was elected president, and Meyer Obadia was named secretary-general.

Held under the auspices of the Union of Jewish Communities in Morocco, the Congress was attended officially, for the first time in four years, by representatives of the Casablanca Jewish Committee. The Casablanca Committee represents two-thirds of the Jewish population in the country. A high official of the Ministry of the Interior greeted the Congress on behalf of the Government. The inclusion of Benzaquen, Amar and Obadia in the presidium of the new Federation was welcomed by Moroccan Jewry with great satisfaction.

A highlight of the Congress was a memorial service honoring the late King Mohammed V, conducted by Grand Rabbi Saul Danan.
