New food restrictions were imposed in Palestine today by order of the government. Rice has been added to the list of rational foodstuff and bakers were ordered to limit the sale of bread made of standard flour to one loaf.
The order issued today by the Palestine government also prohibits grocery and-meat stores to use wrapping paper, except for meat and sailable food articles. It also fixes a uniform price for four kinds of meals served in restaurants and motels. Simultaneously, the appointment of a price controller was announced for the purpose of checking profiteering on commodities.
The Land Department of the Palestine Government today published data revealing that Palestine Arabs have been purchasing large areas of land in the country during the last few months. The Palestine press similarly reports that many rich Egyptians have recently been buying land and houses in Palestine from Jews, offering unusually high prices.
