The French Ambassador to Israel, Francois Hure, was received last night by President Georges Pompidou at Elysee Palace for an intensive briefing on Israel’s long range plans in the Middle East and the future development of Franco-Israeli relations. It was the first time in nearly three years that a French ambassador to Israel had been received by a French President. Observers believe that the French ambassador’s reception shows that the French government is about to undertake within coming months a new diplomatic initiative in the Mideast.
