The new High Commissioner of Palestine, Sir John Chancellor, visiting the capital of Transjordania today, heard the complaints of the opposition to the government of Emir Abdullah.
After a reception in his honor given by Emir Abdullah, the High Commissioner received from the president of the recently called Nationalist Opposition Congress, a memorandum in which the interference of the British Resident in the affairs of the Trans-jordanian government was protested. The memorandum also expressed opposition to the Anglo-Transjordanian agreement and demanded the introduction of a democratically elected legislative council, freedom of press and assembly, the reduction of salaries of officials and the reduction of taxes.
The new elections will take place in Transjordania on December 25.
