A highway from Arad to Sodom, which drops 2, 300 feet from high point to low and which proved to be one of Israel’s most difficult road construction projects, was opened today with brief ceremonies.
The road will provide a commuter line for the 18-month-old Negev development town and the vital commercial route for Dead Sea industries. A third of the $2, 000, 000 cost of the road was provided by Israel Bond funds. Labor Minister Yigal Allon, Jacob Tsur, Jewish National Fund board chairman and other officials attended the opening.
