Joseph Avidar took up his duties today as Israel’s new Ambassador to Argentina, replacing Arieh Levavi, who was declared unwelcome by the Argentina Government because of the seizure in Buenos Aires of Adolf Eichmann, who directed the extermination of the 6,000,000 European Jews.
Mr, Avidar was met at Ezeiza Airport on his arrival yesterday by Foreign Ministry officials, Israel Embassy personnel and members of the Jewish community. He responded with a brief speech in Hebrew that “I know I have come to a friendly country.”
