A newly-printed sheet of Israel postage stamps, bearing a picture of the S.S. Zion of the Zim Israel America Lines, was presented yesterday by the ship’s master to a Gimbel’s Corporation representative in a ceremony on the trans-Atlantic luxury liner.
The Zion stamp, highest denomination in a series of four issued by the Israel Ministry of Posts to honor Israel’s fast-growing merchant marine, was presented by Captain Bernard Berkowitz to Julius Schutzman, general merchandise manager of Gimbels, whose stores are the New York wholesale outlet for Israel stamps. Gottlieb Hammer, president of the American-Israel Shipping Company, U.S. representative of Zim Lines, was host.
