A watered-down bill outlawing racial and religious discrimination in the sale or rental of private housing was before Governor Robert Meyner today for an expected signature.
The original bill approved by the New Jersey House had exempted only rentals of rooms in one-family houses and in two-family houses occupied by the owner. Senate amendments widened the exemptions to include rentals in three-family houses occupied by the owner and sale of houses in developments of less than 10 dwellings.
