The Rabbinical Council of New Yersey this weekend condemned as “sinful” the practice of interdating between Jews and non-Jews. In a resolution adoptd at the Council’s annual conference here, the Orthodox rabbis, from 25 communities in the state, said that “the road that ultimately leads to intermarriage begins with interdating. Jewish parents cannot abandon their reponsibility in this matter.”
Rabbi Leon Katz, of Passaic, president of the Council, said that the current emphasis on cultural exchange and communal affiliations does not contradict th prohibition against interdating. He said the resolution would be forwarded to the Synagogue Council of America.
