A new lecture hall was dedicated here today at the Hebrew University School of Education, in ceremonies attended by leading Israeli educators and the donors of the new facility, the Leon Weiss family of Los Angeles. The latter were guests at a luncheon following the ceremony given by Dr. Y. Racah, rector of the university.
The Yiddish Dictionary Committee today awarded scrolls to Dr. Buell G. Gallagher, president of City College of New York, Dr. Gustave Rosenberg, chairman of the New York City Board of Education, and Israel Steinbaum, secretary of the committee, for their work for the Great Dictionary of the Yiddish Language. The ceremony took place at a reception given in their honor.
An Institute of Yiddish Lexicology, set up at the City College, is responsible com, ilation of the 10-volume dictionary, one volume of which has been published and on one the press. Dr. Gallagher, Dr. Rosenberg and Mr. Steinbaum are trustees of the Institute which, inaaddition to compiling the Dictionary, is planning seminars at the collage for research in Yiddish.
