Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson was installed here to succeed his father-in-law, the late Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Joseph I. Schneersohn, in an impressive ceremony attended by several hundred rabbis and Orthodox Jewish leaders from all parts of the United States and Canada.
The ceremony culminated in a three-hour discourse by the newly-installed Lubavitcher Rebbe. Messages of greetings were received from Chief Rabbi Isaac Herzog of Israel and from the Orthodox members of the Israel Cabinet.
