The Council of the League of Nations has appointed M. Sakenobe (Japan) a member of the Permanent Mandates Commission of the League of Nations in place of M. Yamanaka, who has resigned.
With regard to the vacancy created by the death of Madame Bugge-Wicksel (Sweden) the Council has given authority to the President to appoint with the approval of all the other members of the Council a woman member to the Mandates Commission who should be a citizen of a country which has no mandates. The Council has in this respect acted in accordance with the desire expressed at the first plenary meeting of the League of Nations in 1920, that the Mandates Commission should always include one woman member.
