A new popular history of the Jews in Poland, written in Yiddish, by G. Bader, member of the editorial staff of the “Jewish Daily News.” was published last week.
The book, entitled “Thirty Generations of Jews in Poland,” deals with the development of Jewish life in Poland from the ninth century to 1863 when the last unsuccessful attempt of the Polish people was made to liberate the country from the three powers.
The author, who takes a traditional point of view, writes engagingly on the subject. In the 500 pages, the various phases of the history of Polish Jewry are touched upon in a manner that makes it accessible for popular reading.
The publication of the book was celebrated by the editorial staff of the Jewish Daily News at a banquet given in honor of the author. S. Erdberg was toastmaster.
Otto H. Kahn is planning to provide apartments for artists and authors on a large scale, it was stated. While Mr. Kahn would not comment on the plans, it was said that reports that he planned to engage in such building operations, two of which he has already financed as an experiment, were substantially correct.
