New Raids on Jews in France; Nazis Hang Dutchmen for Aiding Jews to Flee Holland

Raids on Jewish homes have been resumed in France during the last few days, it was reported here today from Vichy. The report states that in Lyon practically every Jewish home was searched. Many Jews are being arrested throughout the country.

At the same time it was reported here from Holland that the Nazi occupation authorities there have hanged more than forty non-Jews for hiding Jews and helping them to flee the country.

Information reaching here from the Czech Protectorate indicates that the Gestapo is determined to massacre all the remaining Jews there in the same manner as it is carrying out the destruction of the Jews in occupied Poland. Recent reports stated that there were about 11,000 Jews left in the Protectorate.

Nazi newspapers reaching here today reveal that 11,000 Jewish estates in the Warsaw district have become the property of the German administration. Jewish estates which were partially destroyed during the hostilities in 1939, have been repaired and are being administered by Germans, the reports state.

Hungarian newspapers report that all Jews have been ousted from the lumber industry in Carpatho-Russia, the section of Czechoslovakia annexed by Hungary. The majority of the Jews in that section were engaged in various activities connected with the lumber industry.
