Jews in the Czech Protectorate who lose the yellow and black Mogen David which every Jew must wear, are henceforth to be punished by having to surrender their egg ration coupon for a new badge, the German-controlled Protectorate press announces in publishing a series of anti-Jewish restrictions.
Copies of Prague newspapers received here today list a dozen new “verbotens” for Jews in the Protectorate which seem to have no other aim than to pinprick the Jews and make their lives intolerable. One of the new regulations forbids Jews to have their clothing laundered, cleaned or dyed by commercial laundries and cleaning establishments. Another forbids them to use public telephone booths. They are forbidden to leave Prague or even to change their address temporarily.
Meanwhile, the Nazis are continuing to exert pressure upon the Czech clergy in an attempt to force them to alter their pro-Jewish attitude. The pro-Nazi Prague daily Cezke Slovo, received here today, bitterly criticizes the church, stating that “it is serious that the clergy mostly keeps silent on the Jews.”
