Israel embarked on a new technical assistance program in Africa today and successfully wound up another. The latest project is a rural development program in Gambia which will be undertaken by Israeli experts under an agreement signed between the Gambian government and the Israeli Center for Agricultural Aid to Developing Countries at Rehovoth. An Israeli team will go to Gambia to collect data essential to planning the program which includes training local people as regional planners. Shmuel Tal, an Israeli printing expert has just returned from Chad where he turned over to local personnel the largest and most modern printing plant in Central Africa. Tal and an assistant set up the enterprise in 1967 and managed it up to now. Thirty-six pupils are completing a two-year study program.
