The New England-Israel Chamber of Commerce, Inc. a new trade organization to promote and facilitate commerce between the businessmen of New England and those of Israel, has just been established, it was announced by its co-founder and first president Saul D. Slater. The Chamber will function as a clearing house for economic information as well as establish contacts with enterprises and government agencies for interested businessmen in both Israel and the United States. Among other associations it will be affiliated with the American-Israel Chamber of Commerce in New York.
Slater said the Chamber will also receive, sort and disseminate pertinent information about economic trends that are developing in Israel, and will consult and advise about economic investment opportunities as well as export and import possibilities that serve best the economic needs of the U.S. and Israel. He also indicated that the establishment of an Israeli Mutual Fund investing in high quality stocks and bonds is being considered.
Regarding the formation of the C of C, Israeli Consul General Shimshon Inbal said, “The Chamber will provide the capability of interfacing the technology and skills of New England Industry with Israeli Industry and can conceivably be an important boost to both economies.”
